Where to go to school

I've been really doing my homework about elementary, middle and high schools.  I'm comparing some high schools side by side, here's my table, just in case you're curious.  If you live in Las Vegas you should be.

So it seems to me that Centennial is my best option, unless of course they just aren't dealing with all their violence and drugs.  Palo Verde has the highest test scores (10, students I've talked to who went there said there were a lot of cliques and snobs and community comments agree), Centennial (8, may have racism issues), Clark (all community ratings say it's the best school in Las Vegas, but the test scores are lower and look at all the drugs and violence!)  I guess Desert Oasis is lower on drugs and violence, but their test scores aren't great and the community doesn't like them much either.

I think I might have to let go of my dream of my favorite neighborhood where the trees are taller than the houses and they were all built with a specific family in mind.  That's Clark high school, and magnet schools that are really difficult to get in to.  900 applications and 100 spots.  Subpar zoned elementary school.  A neighborhood that makes my heart sing, but the schools don't match.

I may move to the untamed desert.  The mountains sure are pretty.

But I love alive earth.
I love Nashville.

You are awesome, look at that research, what a great mom!!!

PS: My son saw your husband's picture and was busting up, I asked why, his response: "look at the guy, he's making a funny, frowny face." lol I told him that look is fierce, not frowny. :)

I live around the corner from centennial, and now you've made me feel a lot better about it! I've heard it's a very good HS. I'm excited for you guys to move here! There are a few charter schools that are elementary age-junior high that I've heard wonderful things about as well. You'll figure it all out once you are here. I love living out in the far NW part of town, a little removed from everywhere yet quick access to anywhere with the freeways. The mountains are very pretty!

good job falisha! And Melissa, that is hilarious that your son was laughing at Paul. that shows how fierce Paul is I guess! I think the mountains are butt ugly, but butt ugly mountains are much much better than no mountains. Love you

Yes, yes, the mountains are much more beautiful in Utah. Thanks for bagging on the one beautiful thing I could think of about Las Vegas. So here's one more: the bottle brush tree that grows well in Las Vegas is pretty. Don't bad talk it.

I see you didn't even consider my beloved Cimarron! I'm offended ;) And I totally agree, the mountains are BEAUTIFUL, whenever we visit Lincoln says they are purple. My favorite view of Las Vegas is driving on Centennial Parkway looking towards Red Rock. I think you will end up finding lots of beauty in this awesome desert.
